Good In The Hood

Located at the crossroads of the spectacular Columbia River Gorge and the magnificent Cascade Range, Hood River County is a scenic wonderland of natural beauty in every season. Commonly known as the kiteboarding capital of the world, Hood River would  be host to round 3 of the North American Enduro Tour.

Kiteboarders out in force on the Columbia River

After a few altercations on the drive down in the new van we arrived in Hood River Thursday afternoon. We set up camp at the event site which was just being set up by race organiser Devon and his crew. Wolsky pitched in and jumped on a slasher and cut the grass to make way for the camp sites.

After we had settled into our camp spot Wolsky got all tribal and threw together a stick and grass bike rack with a load rating of 5 bikes. This topped off the Nomads pro camp setup.

Hood River has no shortage of sweet bike shops. Discovery bike shop consists of three levels with a full size pumptrack on the third floor. Down the road Dirty Fingers bike shop has a Coffee shop and a unique full licensed bar.

On this trip down to Hood River Joe Schwartz jumped on board to get his taste of the enduro scene. Joe is an all rounder on the bike and has competed in Red Bull Rampage and rode in NWD 1-5.

With Hood River being a little closer to BC it was great to see some familiar faces down for the event.  Lindsay Trimble and D’Arcy O’Connor have made the trip down to all the enduro events so far.  Steed Cycles Scott Pilecki road tripped down with James and Jamie to rip up some Hood River trails for the weekend. Also a big thanks to Scott for lending his rear brake line to Chris to keep him running for the remainder of the trip. Cheers Scott!

Scott Pilecki left and D’Arcy O’connor far right about to get rallied up the mountain in the flat bed truck.  Anthony Diaz hands down had the KOM for fastest shuttle driver up the mountain.
Vancouvers Lindsay Trimble has been consistantly top 5 in the pro womens

With warm weather and the Columbia River on our Door step Chris and myself spent most morning and afternoons swimming down in the river.

Hood River provided an unreal location to host round three with more technical terrain than we have seen so far. With the weekend wrapping up we managed to seal top 10 posistions. Chris finsished 3rd and myself 7th overall topped off a great weekend of riding!
